The village of Tigkaki is built in a green valley on the western side of the
island of Kos. At a distance of 7m from the town of Kos and 4m from the village
of Asfendiou, Tigkaki has an ideal position due to its vicinity with the
archaeological sights of Kos.
Tigaki has a well organised beach and offers the visitor all the tourist
facilities. The village was previously the exclusive summer resort of the
inhabitants of Asfendiou.
Today, Tigkaki has become a main tourist area with a high standard of
accommodation, taverns, restaurants, bars and cafes. .
In a short distance from Tigkaki is the area of Alykes one of the two wetlands
of the island, the other is Psalidi. The area is the largest breeding place of
ruddy shelduck in southern Europe . For birdwatchers of migratory birds, the
area of Alykes in Tigkaki has a special interest. Tingaki is well connected by
regular bus routes with Kos town.
