Agios Stefanos Beach is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful beaches of Kos with its turquoise, transparent waters. It is ideal for families and for those who love lazing on beaches in beautiful surroundings. The beach is adorned and embellished by the ruins of an ancient Christian basilicas which was discovered in 1932 by the Italian Lorenzi and is decorated with beautiful mosaics.
In front of the beach is the island of Kastri with the monastery of Agios Andonis. There is a custom that anyone who swims the short distance from the beach to the church must climb the rocks and ring a little bell which is placed at the side of the small blue and white church
